BREAKING: Florida panthers bolster squad depth with another major signing

The Florida Panthers have signed forward to a player tryout agreement (PTO).  He spent the 2023-24 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins, the Detroit Red Wings’ AHL affiliate. During that time, he recorded 10 goals and eight assists, totaling 18 points in 26 games. This PTO with the Panthers offers him an opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially secure a spot on their roster for the upcoming season.

The 27 year-old  who is coming off a one-year extension with the Detroit Red Wings for the 2023-24 season, is now on a player tryout agreement (PTO) with the Florida Panthers. His NHL experience includes a stint with the L.A. Kings, where he made his debut in the 2018-19 season and scored eight goals and three assists in 33 games. Luff’s NHL career has also included time with the Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings, totaling 15 goals and 27 points in 106 games over five seasons. His 2022-23 NHL season was cut short by wrist surgery, during which he had four points in 19 games.

Luff’s AHL career has been notably successful, with 67 goals and 96 assists for 163 points in 223 games across various teams, including the Ontario Reign, Milwaukee Admirals, and Grand Rapids Griffins. In his junior career with the Ontario Hockey League’s (OHL) Hamilton Bulldogs, he accumulated 61 goals and 76 assists in 170 games.

With Luff joining the Florida Panthers on a PTO, he will compete for a roster spot alongside other free-agent signings such as Nate Schmidt, A.J. Greer, Tomas Nosek, and the Boqvist brothers, Jesper and Adam, as the team prepares for the 2024-25 season.
