BREAKING: Steelers Have Reportedly Made A Decision On Starting QB This Week

Looking to enhance their offense for the 2024 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers made three significant moves during the offseason. Their most notable acquisition was veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who was released by the Denver Broncos following a series of underwhelming seasons in Denver. The Steelers hope these changes will energize their offense and improve their scoring potential.

Following the signing of Russell Wilson, Kenny Pickett requested a trade and was subsequently moved to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he will serve as a backup to the star quarterback Jalen Hurts. To mitigate the risk of Wilson not performing as hoped, the Steelers also traded with the Chicago Bears to acquire Justin Fields. This move has proven timely, as Wilson is currently sidelined with calf tightness and missed Week 1’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fortunately for the Steelers, Fields stepped up in the season opener and led the team to a victory over the Falcons. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Fields will continue as the starting quarterback in Week 2 against the Broncos.

Ironically, this is the one game Russell Wilson likely wanted to play most in his first season with the Steelers—an opportunity to seek revenge against the Broncos, who he may feel gave up on him prematurely.

Although Wilson is improving, he isn’t yet fit to return to the field, which presents a concern for the Steelers and an opportunity for Justin Fields to solidify his position as the starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.
