BREAKING: ‘This is sad’ San Antonio Spurs let go of another dynamic super talent

A former forward for the  San Antonio Spurs, has signed a contract elsewhere, as announced by the club.

The 29-year-old  standing 6-foot-7, played 72 games for the Spurs last season, averaging 6.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 47.9 percent from the field. Prior to that, he spent six seasons with the Cavaliers, averaging at least 10.5 points per game from 2018 to 2022.

 

Although the former guard/forward attracted interest from NBA teams during free agency, none were willing to offer him a guaranteed contract, prompting him to accept the best offer from the international market.

Originally drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves as the 31st pick in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft, Cedi Osman was immediately traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He spent his first two professional seasons playing overseas with Turkish club Anadolu Efes before joining the Cavaliers in July 2017.

Osman signed a contract extension with Cleveland two years later and was involved in a three-team trade with the Spurs and Miami Heat last offseason. The trade sent Osman, forward Lamar Stevens, and a 2030 second-round pick to San Antonio, a 2026 second-round pick to Miami, and guard/forward Max Strus to Cleveland.

Over seven NBA seasons, Osman appeared in 476 regular-season games, averaging 9.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
