BREAKING: North Carolina Tar Heels beat 4 prominent programs to land highly rated super star

The UNC football program has bolstered its emerging 2026 recruiting class with a formidable addition.

He is the second commitment for the Class of 2026, following quarterback Zaid Lott from Charlotte’s Providence Day School. A 247Sports Composite four-star recruit, Griffin-Haynes is ranked as the ninth overall prospect in North Carolina. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 220 pounds at just 16 years old, he has the potential to add significant weight and strength once he joins a college training program.

Last season at Rolesville High, Griffin-Haynes made a strong impact as a defensive end, recording 65 tackles, including 26 for a loss, along with 4.5 sacks and 20 quarterback pressures. His impressive performance has drawn attention from major programs across the ACC, Big Ten, and SEC. Ultimately, he chose UNC over other top contenders such as Ohio State, NC State, Miami, and Tennessee.

With a bit more development, added weight, and the right opportunities, Griffin-Haynes could really excel at Chapel Hill. We’re excited to see what he’ll bring to the field in two years!
