Huge Blow: Texas Tech football Received Another sad News Concerning Top Talent

The Texas Tech football team has lost another outside linebacker for the season due to a knee injury.

On Monday, Tech revealed in its availability report that junior Joseph Adedire will be sidelined for the remainder of the season with a knee issue. He joins Dylan Spencer, another outside linebacker, who was already out for the year after suffering a knee injury during the first week of preseason camp.

Adedire, who had undergone shoulder surgeries in the past two offseasons, was anticipated to be a crucial part of this year’s defense. He missed Saturday’s 52-51 overtime victory against Abilene Christian.

In other availability news, outside linebacker Charles Esters III (thigh) and defensive back Javeon Wilcox (knee) are both out for this week’s game against Washington State (9 p.m. CT Saturday, FOX).

The list of questionable players for the Washington State game is extensive and includes several key figures.

Starters Tahj Brooks (arm), outside linebacker Harvey Dyson III (foot), and defensive backs Bralyn Lux (thigh) and C.J. Baskerville (shoulder) are all marked as questionable.

Head coach Joey McGuire mentioned in Monday’s press conference that Brooks’ availability for Saturday’s game will be determined on game day. The team hopes to have Esters back in a week or two.

Regarding the depth chart for the Washington State game, the Texas Tech lineup remains largely unchanged from the first week of the season, except for the tight end position.

Mason Tharp was initially listed as the starter for the Abilene Christian game, with Jalin Conyers and Johncarlos Miller II as co-backups. This week’s depth chart features an OR between Tharp, Conyers, and Miller, indicating no definitive starter. All three players saw significant playing time against the Wildcats, with Conyers emerging as the primary receiving target.

Conyers caught five passes for 63 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown in the first half. Tharp and Miller were mainly used for run blocking, although both caught one pass each—Tharp for nine yards and Miller for seven.

In other news, kick returner Drae McCray has been honored as the Big 12 Conference’s special teams player of the week. McCray had a standout performance, averaging 55 yards per return, with notable run-backs of 74 and 65 yards against Abilene Christian. The Wildcats opted to kick away from McCray for the rest of the game.
