The Rangers’ four runs all came from a single swing, as Wyatt Langford hit a walk-off grand slam, leading Texas to a 7-4 victory and pushing New York’s record to 80-59. Despite this setback, Jazz Chisholm Jr. is optimistic about the Yankees’ prospects and Clay Holmes’ ability to rebound, according to the Yes Network.

“He’s great. Until I was here, I was facing Clay and thought he was one of the best pitchers in the league,” Chisholm said. “He has excellent stuff. Everyone goes through rough stretches and tough games.”

“Everybody has their slump… He’s one of those guys who can bounce back, and he’s been doing it for years. I think he’s going to be alright.”

Chisholm, who joined the Yankees from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline, contributed with a 2-for-4 performance against the Rangers, boosting his batting average with the Yankees to .340. Despite Holmes’ blown save, Chisholm remains confident in his teammate’s ability to handle the ninth inning and believes in staying level-headed as the playoffs approach.

Clay Holmes struggles at closer

Tuesday’s game was Clay Holmes’ 11th blown save of the season, the highest total in MLB. The Yankees are now trailing the Baltimore Orioles by half a game in the AL East. It’s worth considering how the team’s standing might look if they hadn’t experienced so many blown saves.
