BREAKING: Standout Texas Edge Rusher Commits to Penn State

Penn State continued its successful recruiting momentum by securing a commitment from a highly-rated defensive end from Texas. A 4-star recruit and first-team all-state selection from his junior year, has joined the Nittany Lions’ 2025 recruiting class. He’s commitment marks the fourth addition to Penn State’s roster in just three days, following a strong late-June recruiting period.

Granville, who will be a senior at Fort Bend Christian Academy, is rated as a 4-star linebacker by the 247Sports Composite. Standing 6-3 and weighing 220 pounds, he is projected to play as a defensive end and was recruited by Penn State’s defensive line coach, Deion Barnes. Granville made his decision after an official visit to State College in early June. He also visited USC, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma in June, and took an official visit to Baylor in April.

Granville had a notable offer sheet that included top programs such as Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn, among others. He is ranked 109th in the ESPN 300 and is the sixth player with an ESPN profile to commit to Penn State.

Last season, Granville earned first-team all-state honors as a linebacker in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ Division II and was also recognized as a second-team offensive player.

Penn State is wrapping up the June official-visit period with strong results, having secured commitments from six players since June 17. With Granville’s commitment, the Nittany Lions have moved ahead of Rutgers into the No. 9 spot in the 247Sports Composite rankings. The 2025 class now boasts 18 committed players.

Penn State’s 2024 football season kicks off on August 31 at West Virginia, with the game scheduled to start at noon ET on FOX.
