On Friday evening, Courtney Banghart and the North Carolina women’s basketball team secured a commitment from five-star recruit Taliyah Henderson of Tucson, Arizona.
The five-star wing, ranked No. 21 in the Class of 2025, has become the first commitment for Coach Banghart’s recruiting class, marking a significant addition for the Tar Heels. Standing six feet tall, Henderson had several offers from top programs like Tennessee and UConn but chose to join UNC, where she will help fill the gap left by departing players in 2025.
Henderson was drawn to North Carolina by the university’s high academic standards and renowned journalism program. She also highlighted the strong coaching staff and supportive community that impressed her from the start. As noted by 247Sports, Henderson aims to bring “size and versatility” to the Tar Heels under Coach Banghart’s leadership.
