The Top Superstar is set for a homecoming as he has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the New York Islanders, starting in the 2024-25 season, according to Ethan Sears on X.
Originally drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Warren’s initial offer lapsed after he completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College and spent a fifth year at Michigan.
This new NHL opportunity is particularly meaningful for Warren, as he hails from Long Island and will have the chance to play for his hometown team.
Warren’s collegiate hockey career has been impressive. At Boston College, he served as captain during his senior year and played 130 games, scoring 20 goals and accumulating 57 points.
At Michigan, Warren demonstrated leadership both on and off the ice. His experience and leadership were evident and inspiring to his teammates. This season, he has been a key contributor from the blue line with 18 points. He wore the ‘A’ as an alternate captain and played a pivotal role in crucial moments. Warren scored a game-winning goal in a regular-season sweep of Notre Dame and made a key play in the Big Ten Championship.
His standout moment came in the NCAA Regional Final against Michigan State, where he scored from a well-placed pass by senior defenseman Jacob Truscott, leading to a decisive victory that secured Michigan’s spot in the Frozen Four.
Few players have the chance to return to their hometown and play for the team they grew up supporting, but Warren will soon have that unique opportunity.
