Huge Boost: Top super athlete returns to UNC basketball court

Armando Bacot, the former center for the North Carolina Tar Heels, concluded his college career with the team after a five-year stint in Chapel Hill. Throughout his time at the university, Bacot developed a deep affection for the school and dedicated himself fully to the program, including playing through injuries during the 2022 national title game run.

As Bacot contemplates his next steps, he recently made a return to the court in Chapel Hill. He participated in some pickup games alongside former teammates and new players, and the Tar Heels’ social media account highlighted his visit.

It’s heartening to see Bacot back in the Dean Dome, even if just for informal games. He left a notable legacy with the Tar Heels, holding the record for all-time rebounds and ranking second in career points.

There’s speculation about a possible future role for Bacot within the program, given his passion for the game and familiarity with the team, but his professional career path will need to be followed first.
