Henderson is ranked as the No. 21 prospect in her class by ESPN.

In an interview with 247Sports, Henderson shared her enthusiasm for North Carolina: “I love everything about North Carolina. They checked all my boxes. Academics were a key factor for me—I come from a high academic family and attend a college prep high school to get ready for college.”

“North Carolina stands out as one of the top public universities with an outstanding journalism program. A degree from UNC carries significant weight, and many great individuals have graduated from there. Additionally, the strength of their athletic programs, not just in women’s basketball, was a major draw for me. I’m excited about being part of such a successful and vibrant community.”

Henderson also praised the UNC coaching staff and her rapport with head coach Courtney Banghart.

“On the women’s basketball front, the coaches are exceptional,” Henderson noted. “During my visit, I immediately felt a strong connection with Coach Banghart and the rest of the staff. I’m very focused on player development, with aspirations of joining the WNBA and representing Team Canada in the Olympics.

The staff detailed their approach to my development, outlining a day-by-day plan rather than just a yearly one. This level of attention to detail really resonated with me. While some schools provide a general plan, I value a detailed, personalized approach, and the UNC staff mirrored that same dedication and enthusiasm, which was incredibly special.”

The family atmosphere at North Carolina and on campus also made a significant impression on Henderson.

“Everyone talks about wanting a family-like environment, and family is very important to me,” Henderson said. “My family and community have been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. As I prepare to leave home, I want to find the same kind of support. During my visit to UNC, I felt that support from everyone I interacted with—whether it was fans, coaches, or players. They all returned the positive energy I brought. Having a coaching staff that believes in you and is committed to helping you achieve both your personal and team goals is crucial.”

Henderson also noted that Coach Banghart’s demonstration of practice and the system used at UNC were key factors in her decision.
