Heyward, who recently turned 35, has posted a .208 batting average with six home runs and 28 RBIs in 63 games during the 2024 season. Over his career, Heyward has maintained a .257 average with 180 home runs and 709 RBIs across 1,766 games with the Atlanta Braves (2010-14), St. Louis Cardinals (2015), Chicago Cubs (2017-22), and Dodgers.

Drafted by Atlanta in the first round (14th overall) in 2007, Heyward made the National League All-Star team as a rookie in 2010 and won five Gold Gloves in right field (2012, 2014-17).

This season, Heyward is playing under a one-year contract worth $9 million, having accumulated over $210 million in career earnings.

The Dodgers filled the roster spot by activating infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor from the 10-day injured list. Taylor, 33, has been sidelined since July 24 due to a right groin strain.

This season, Taylor is batting .167 with three home runs and 15 RBIs across 64 games for the Dodgers.
