On Friday, as his 10 days were up, the Yankees activated Chisholm from the injured list. To make room for him on the roster, infielder Oswald Peraza was optioned following the Yankees’ 6-0 win over the Guardians on Thursday.
The 26-year-old Chisholm aims to resume his strong performance at the plate. Prior to his elbow injury on August 12, which occurred during a head-first slide into home plate against the White Sox, he had posted impressive numbers with a .316 batting average, .361 on-base percentage, and .702 slugging percentage in his first 14 games with New York.
Acquired from the Marlins on July 27, Jazz Chisholm set a franchise record by hitting seven home runs in his first 12 games with the Yankees.
Chisholm is rejoining the team ahead of Friday’s series opener against the Rockies in the Bronx. The Yankees, with a 75-53 record, have the best record in the American League and hold a 1.5-game lead over the Orioles in the AL East following their win over the Guardians in Thursday’s rubber match at Yankee Stadium.
