Chris Jans and Mississippi State men’s basketball have bolstered their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star small forward, who revealed his decision to join the Bulldogs on social media Wednesday.
Paul, a 6-foot-6 forward from DeSoto, Texas, is ranked as the No. 103 recruit in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Cameren Paul also received offers from several Power Five programs, including Boston College, California, Houston, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, TCU, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt, and Washington State. Mississippi State initially extended an offer to Paul in August 2022.
Paul’s commitment makes him the second player to join Mississippi State’s 2025 recruiting class. He joins Chol Machot, a three-star center from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, who committed in November 2023 and will reclassify to the 2025 class after a year of junior college play before joining the Bulldogs.
Under third-year head coach Chris Jans, Mississippi State aims to reach the NCAA Tournament for a third consecutive season, after a First Round loss to Michigan State in last year’s tournament in Charlotte.
This offseason, Mississippi State revamped its roster through the transfer portal, bringing in four guards—Kanye Clary (Penn State), RJ Melendez (Georgia), Riley Kugel (Florida), and Claudell Harris Jr. (Boston College)—as well as two centers, Jeremy Foumena from Rhode Island and Michael Nwoko from Miami (FL).
The Bulldogs will return their leading scorer from last season, sophomore guard Josh Hubbard, and All-SEC defensive team senior Cameron Matthews.
Mississippi State has outlined most of its non-conference schedule for next season, which includes home games against West Georgia on November 4 to start the season, as well as matchups with Southeastern Louisiana, Prairie View A&M, Pitt in the SEC/ACC Challenge, and Bethune-Cookman. The Bulldogs will also play against McNeese in Tupelo at Cadence Bank Arena and Central Michigan in Jackson at The Mississippi Coliseum. Road games are set against SMU and Memphis, among others.
Additionally, Mississippi State has learned its Southeastern Conference game dates for the 2024-25 season. The Bulldogs will begin league play against South Carolina at The Humphrey Coliseum on January 4 and wrap up the regular season against Arkansas, coached by John Calipari, in Fayetteville on March 8.
Mississippi State will face two SEC newcomers, Texas and Oklahoma, hosting the Longhorns on March 4 or 5 (date to be finalized) and traveling to Norman to play the Sooners on February 22.
The home schedule will feature high-profile matchups, including games against Kentucky, now led by Mark Pope, on January 11, 2024 Final Four participant Alabama on January 28 or 29, and in-state rival Ole Miss on January 18. The Bulldogs will return to Oxford for a game on February 15. Their first SEC road game will be at Vanderbilt on January 7, followed by trips to last year’s regular season champions, Tennessee, on January 21, and SEC Tournament champions, Auburn, on January 14 or 15.
