The Los Angeles Chargers have parted ways with former TCU star, who had been vying for the backup quarterback spot behind starter Justin Herbert with Luis Perez and Easton Stick, was previously released by the Chargers in the 2023 season.
He was later re-signed to the practice squad and elevated to the active roster when Herbert suffered a season-ending injury in December. Duggan was selected by the Chargers in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft after an impressive final college season. During his four years at TCU from 2019 to 2022, Duggan had a standout senior year, passing for 3,698 yards with 32 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He earned the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year award, the Davey O’Brien award, and was a Heisman Trophy finalist. Duggan led TCU to the College Football Playoff national championship game, where they were defeated by Georgia. His last college victory was over Michigan in the Fiesta Bowl, the CFP semifinal, which was coincidentally Jim Harbaugh’s final loss as a college coach before becoming the Chargers’ head coach, who has now released Duggan.
