Huge Boost: blue Jays Reportedly sign another talent to bolster squad depth

The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed former Detroit Tigers pitcher Easton Lucas.

The 27-year-old left-handed reliever was picked up by the Blue Jays on Monday. Lucas had a brief stint with the Tigers during the 2024 season, appearing in only three games. Detroit had previously acquired him from the Oakland Athletics on May 18th.

Lucas faced challenges in his three major league appearances, pitching just 3.1 innings with two earned runs, three hits allowed, and a 2:2 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Despite these struggles, he did secure one win.

However, Lucas has fared better in the minor leagues this year, where he has made 32 appearances and started one game. In the minors, he posted a 3-1 record with a 3.31 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, 52 strikeouts, and 23 walks over 49 innings.

The Blue Jays are bringing him on board as a potential reclamation project, hoping to develop him into a reliable bullpen asset. Though Lucas hasn’t yet demonstrated significant success at the major league level, he now has another chance with Toronto to revive his career and earn a permanent spot in the big leagues.
