Just In: Huge boost for Hokies, After landing four-star wide receiver yesterday, another talented athlete set to commit Tomorrow

Virginia Tech is making significant strides in recruiting, having recently secured another four-star wide receiver and potentially adding another standout athlete soon. Tomorrow, three-star prospect Luke Stuewe will announce his commitment decision, and based on the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, he is likely to join the Hokies’ 2025 class. Stuewe, who is deciding between Virginia Tech and Miami (OH), is the son of Michael Stuewe, a former Hokies wide receiver from 1994 to 1997.

2025 athlete Luke Stuewe

Stuewe is ranked as the No. 1671 player nationally by the 247Sports Composite, the No. 140 athlete in the country, and the No. 84 player in Ohio. He has additional offers from schools like Buffalo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Marshall, and Toledo. Standing at 6’2″ and weighing 195 pounds, Stuewe has the ability to make impactful plays and would be a valuable, though potentially underrated, addition to Virginia Tech’s 2025 recruiting class.

In another significant development, four-star wide receiver Shamarius Peterkin, who plays at Mount Tabor High School in Winston Salem, NC, committed to Virginia Tech yesterday, choosing the Hokies over NC State, North Carolina, and other programs. Peterkin is ranked No. 208 nationally by 247Sports, No. 23 among wide receivers, and No. 7 in North Carolina. Despite predictions pointing towards NC State, Peterkin decided on Virginia Tech.

This commitment is a major boost for the Hokies and a notable achievement for wide receivers coach Fontel Mines, who has been instrumental in recruiting one of the top receiver classes in the ACC. Earlier in the year, Virginia Tech also secured commitments from four-star wide receivers Micah Matthews and Matthew Outten.

Peterkin had additional offers from Maryland, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia, Georgia, Florida State, and Louisville, among others.

According to 247Sports Analyst Gabe Brooks, Peterkin is a tall, lean receiver at 6-foot-2 who has excelled in various roles. He possesses a long stride that aids his acceleration and is effective as a return specialist and a run-after-catch weapon. Peterkin tracks deep passes well, makes impressive catches, and displays good spatial awareness. His athleticism and timing make him a strong red-zone threat and consistent in contested situations. He has demonstrated big-play ability in the return game, with notable touchdown returns of 99 yards (kick) and 77 yards (punt) as a junior. Peterkin’s production has been steadily increasing, and he has shown potential as a future Power 4 starter with professional upside.

In addition to football, Peterkin competes in basketball and track and field, with notable achievements in the high jump and 200 meters. His junior year saw him catch 42 passes for 824 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also rushing 18 times for 77 yards. He contributed on defense and special teams as well, including averaging 30 yards per kick return and 24.4 yards per punt return.

With these additions, Virginia Tech’s 2025 recruiting class is shaping up strongly, and more exciting news may be on the horizon.
