After being expected to miss most of fall camp due to a stress fracture in his leg, a key Georgia defensive lineman has encountered another setback that will likely keep him out at the beginning of the season. Jordan Hall, who was anticipated to play a significant role in the defensive line rotation, has now suffered the same injury in his other leg.
“Jordan (Hall) was beginning to recover and had started running again from his stress fracture in his tibia. Now, he’s dealing with the exact same issue in the other leg,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said on Tuesday.
Hall is set to play a significant role on the defensive line this season following the departures of Zion Logue and Tramel Walthour. We anticipate Hall will serve as Georgia’s second-string defensive tackle this year.
Georgia kicks off the season against the Clemson Tigers in Atlanta, Georgia, on Aug. 31 at noon ET on ABC.
“It was unusual for it to happen, but he didn’t notice it until he started running again to recover from the first injury. We had to address the issue in the other leg. He’s on a good timeline, and it’s not a long-term problem. Now, he knows what to expect since he’s experienced it in both his left and right leg,” Smart added.
“He had the other one fixed, and he’s going to be back. We’re unsure of the exact timeline, but he’s been in good spirits. We’re just thankful they discovered it when they did.”
Hall, a 6-foot-4, 320-pound defensive tackle from Jacksonville, Florida, recorded 10 total tackles in limited playing time last year, including four in the victory over the Tennessee Volunteers.
