BREAKING: Five-Star highly rated QB commits to FSU football

Florida State has had its quarterback for the #Tribe25 class secured for over a year, thanks to the commitment of five-star.  However, in high school recruiting, nothing is finalized until the National Signing Day in December.

Recently, the Florida Gators made a strong attempt to persuade Jones Jr. to switch his commitment from the Seminoles. They hosted him for several unofficial visits, including one earlier this month, which cast some uncertainty on his pledge to FSU. Nonetheless, Jones Jr. returned to Tallahassee for his official visit and seems prepared to end his recruitment process.

On Saturday, Jones Jr. confirmed that he is firmly committed to Florida State and will not entertain offers from other schools, as he shared with James Coleman on The Sports Den. This announcement is exactly what head coach Mike Norvell and quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz were hoping for, as their recruiting efforts gain momentum with the summer’s progression. The two coaches have cultivated a strong relationship with Jones Jr. over several years.

“It’s an unbreakable relationship,” Jones Jr. stated to NoleGameday. “I think coach Tokarz and coach Norvell have a relationship with me like no other. I’m completely committed right now, 100%, so it’s just great.”

Jones Jr. has consistently enhanced his skills throughout his high school career, emerging as one of the most promising senior quarterbacks nationally. In his junior year, he completed 183 of 302 passes (60.6%) for 3,195 yards, with 33 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and added another touchdown rushing. He played a key role in leading Mandarin High School to a state championship appearance and aims to secure the title this fall.

The Florida native showcased his talent at the Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles, where he was among the top quarterbacks over the three-day event. Following his impressive performance on the 7-on-7 circuit this offseason, Jones Jr. is expected to see a rise in his rankings with the next update. It’s possible that he could be elevated to a composite blue-chip recruit by then.

Currently, the 6-foot-0, 196-pound quarterback is ranked as the No. 288 overall prospect, the No. 24 quarterback, and the No. 41 recruit in Florida for the 2025 class according to 247Sports.
