BREAKING: New York Mets Brutally Cut Ties With 4 Players

The New York Mets have made several roster changes as the organization begins reshaping its roster for the 2027 season.

With MLB free agency officially getting underway, the Mets recently parted ways with four young players from their Dominican Summer League organization. The moves were recorded in the Minor League Baseball transactions log following the conclusion of the 2026 season.

The four players released were right-handed pitcher Cristian Dudamel, catcher Jesus Griman, shortstop Angel Ozuna and shortstop Jose Padilla.

Dudamel, who signed with the Mets on January 15, 2026, spent the season in the Dominican Summer League. The Venezuelan right-hander posted a 5.79 ERA, recording 11 strikeouts and 18 walks over 14 innings.

Griman joined the Mets organization on August 1, 2025. The 18-year-old catcher appeared in 24 DSL games and hit .184/.313/.263 across 48 plate appearances.

Ozuna was signed by New York on June 10, 2026. The switch-hitting shortstop appeared in 20 games in the Dominican Summer League, producing a .203/.329/.322 batting line with one home run and 24 strikeouts in 70 plate appearances.

Padilla was originally signed by the Mets on January 15, 2025. The Venezuelan infielder played 73 DSL games and struggled offensively, hitting .169/.307/.270 with two home runs and 79 strikeouts in 228 plate appearances.

While none of the four players had established themselves as major-league prospects, their departures represent another round of organizational turnover for a Mets club entering an important offseason.

New York is coming off a disappointing 2026 campaign and finished 74-88, last in the National League East. With the offseason now underway, president of baseball operations David Stearns faces the task of making significant changes to a roster that fell well short of expectations.

The Mets have already begun making moves, including adding depth to the organization, while their front office evaluates potential free-agent and trade targets.

For Dudamel, Griman, Ozuna and Padilla, the next step will be finding new opportunities outside the Mets organization. Meanwhile, New York will continue making difficult roster decisions as it attempts to build a team capable of returning to postseason contention in 2027.
