Georgia Tech has ended a long dry spell with a five-star recruit, a standout offensive tackle from Roswell (Ga.) Fellowship Christian School, committed to the Yellow Jackets. The talented star, who is 6-foot-4.5 and weighs 262 pounds, chose Georgia Tech over offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Stanford, and Tennessee.
Ranked as the No. 14 player in the nation, the No. 2 offensive tackle, and the No. 4 player in Georgia by 247Sports, Petty’s commitment is a significant boost for Brent Key and his coaching staff.
Last season, Petty made a notable impact on both sides of the ball. On defense, he recorded 58 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery.
Georgia Tech remained active in Petty’s recruitment
Georgia Tech was one of the first programs to show interest in Josh Petty, extending an offer in January 2021. Since then, Petty has made multiple visits to the Yellow Jackets’ campus, with his initial visit occurring in March 2023.
Throughout the summer, Petty traveled extensively to visit each of his finalist schools. In July, he only visited Florida State and Georgia Tech. He was in Atlanta on July 27 and traveled to Tallahassee the following day.
