MAJOR BREAKING: Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears land blockbuster commitment for another top-notch player to bolster depth

Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears made a significant move in the transfer portal securing the commitment of another defensive back transferring from Oregon.

A 6-foot freshman from San Antonio, Texas, is coming off his first season at Oregon. During his freshman year, he recorded seven tackles and one pass breakup. Turner was a highly regarded recruit, having chosen Oregon over offers from 17 other schools, including Oklahoma, Auburn, Baylor, Houston, Ole Miss, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech, and Utah.

A graduate of Brennan High School in San Antonio, he was rated as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2023 by 247Sports, ranking as the 360th best player in the nation, the 34th-best player at his position, and the 62nd-best player in Texas.

With his commitment, Baylor now boasts a total of nine transfers, putting them in the eighth spot in the Big 12 Conference for their recruiting class.

The transfer portal officially opened on Monday, December 9, 2024, and will remain open until December 28, with exceptions for players on teams participating in bowl games after the window closes. According to NCAA data, 2,273 FBS football players entered the portal in the 2023-24 cycle, with 68.5% being undergraduates and 31.5% graduate transfers. Of those who entered, 57% enrolled at a new school, 8% withdrew from the portal, and 35% either transferred to a non-NCAA school, left their sport, or remain active.
