Detroit, MI – The Detroit Lions are facing yet another challenge on the injury front as another key linebacker was absent from practice on Thursday. Despite some positive updates regarding other members of the squad, the Lions continue to navigate a growing list of injury concerns, particularly in the linebacker corps.
Linebacker Depth Tested
Veteran linebacker Jared Davis was notably absent from today’s practice session, adding to an already-depleted linebacker group. Davis, who has been a reliable contributor on the defense this season, did not provide any specific reason for his absence, and the Lions have yet to clarify the nature of his issue. The team is already without Jack Campbell (hamstring) and Malcolm Rodriguez (neck), making Davis’s absence even more concerning.

While the news regarding the linebacker group is concerning, there have been brighter developments for the Lions. Aidan Hutchinson, the team’s star edge rusher, returned to practice after a brief scare with a minor groin issue earlier this week. Hutchinson participated in full drills, showing no signs of discomfort, which is a big relief for a defense that has relied heavily on his pass-rushing ability.
Additionally, David Montgomery, who has been battling a rib injury, was seen participating in individual drills, though he was held out of full team sessions. The running back’s availability remains uncertain for the upcoming game, but his involvement in practice is a positive sign.
