The Toronto Blue Jays have taken a step to bolster their pitching depth by adding an experienced arm with a proven track record at the highest level. In an effort to strengthen their roster, the club announced that they have signed veteran left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbin—who is a former two-time All-Star—to a one-year contract.
Following the signing, the organization confirmed that Corbin has been assigned to their Single-A affiliate in Dunedin. This move likely serves as an opportunity for him to build up form, refine his mechanics, and get acclimated within the Blue Jays system before potentially earning a call-up to the major league roster.
Corbin brings with him a wealth of experience. During the 2025 season with the Texas Rangers, he made 31 appearances, recording a 7–11 win-loss record along with a 4.40 earned run average (ERA) and 131 strikeouts. The previous year, while pitching for the Washington Nationals, he appeared in 32 games and posted a 6–13 record, a 5.62 ERA, and 139 strikeouts. While those numbers suggest some inconsistency, they also show durability and the ability to handle a full workload over a long season.
Over the course of his 13-year Major League Baseball career, Corbin has played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Washington Nationals, and Texas Rangers. Across those seasons, he has accumulated a 110–142 record, a 4.51 ERA, and an impressive total of 1,860 strikeouts. His career highlights include being selected as an All-Star twice and playing a key role during his peak years as a frontline starter.
For the Blue Jays, this signing represents a low-risk move with potential upside. Corbin’s veteran presence could provide valuable mentorship to younger pitchers in the organization, while also giving the team a reliable depth option should injuries or performance issues arise at the major league level.
