Jeff Passan announced that former All-Star pitcher signed a one-year contract lucrative with the Los Angeles Angels.
Alek Manoah, who has not played in the major leagues since 2024, was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays late in the season. The Braves claimed him but surprisingly chose not to tender a contract to him a few weeks ago, even though he still had a minor-league option available. This meant Atlanta could have assessed his performance in the minors before deciding whether to bring him back to the majors.
It’s possible the Braves hoped he might return on a cheaper contract as a free agent. While he was expected to earn $2.2 million through arbitration, Manoah is now set to make $1.95 million with the Angels in 2026.
