Injury Updates: Just In, Smart Gives Hopeful Update on Key Bulldogs Ahead of Florida Showdown

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart provided updates on player injuries after the team’s significant road victory over the Texas Longhorns. Currently, Georgia is on its bye week, aiming to recover before the upcoming game against the Florida Gators on November 2.

Smart expressed optimism about linebacker Smael Mondon’s potential return, stating, “We’re hoping to get him back soon. He’s currently with us, but we’re unsure exactly when that will be.” Mondon has been sidelined with a foot injury, but it seems he won’t be out for an extended time. He was ruled out early in the week leading up to the Texas game, so his availability for Florida remains uncertain.

Offensive guard Tate Ratledge was dressed for the Texas matchup but only in an emergency capacity due to an ankle injury sustained in the Kentucky game. Smart praised Ratledge’s determination, noting, “He’s one of the toughest players I’ve ever known. He’s recovering from a significant tightrope injury, more serious than Brock’s (Bowers), and is pushing to come back. He wasn’t quite ready to play, but could have stepped in if necessary. We’re hopeful he continues to improve.”

The Florida game has been seen as a realistic target for Ratledge’s return, although each injury is unique. His status will be closely monitored when Georgia issues its SEC injury report on October 30.

Running backs Branson Robinson (knee) and Roderick Robinson (toe) are both still out, and defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye missed the Texas game due to an undisclosed injury.

Additionally, defensive backs Dan Jackson and Joenel Aguero are expected to miss the first half of the Florida game after being ejected for targeting in the Texas matchup, resulting in suspensions.
