The New York Knicks made a major acquisition by bringing in a player Leon Rose, the head of basketball operations, has long wanted. The trade sent Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo to the Minnesota Timberwolves, with the Charlotte Hornets involved as a third party, significantly impacting the future of both teams. This move fulfills Rose’s goal of having Towns at Madison Square Garden after much anticipation.
This trade could set the stage for even larger deals, as both the Knicks and Timberwolves might be eyeing future superstar signings. They are likely monitoring the Phoenix Suns closely, who may need to offload players due to financial difficulties.
For the Knicks, the target could be Devin Booker, a close friend of Towns and a former client of Rose. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves might aim for Kevin Durant, who has built a strong connection with Anthony Edwards during the Paris Olympics.
The New York Knicks made a roster change this week, announcing on Monday that they have signed former Northwestern guard Boo Buie to a non-guaranteed Exhibit-10 contract.
Knicks add Boo Buie on non-guaranteed contract
Given the number of guards already on the Knicks’ roster, the 24-year-old faces long odds to secure a spot on the active roster. However, he provides valuable depth at the point guard position for the preseason, and a standout performance could lead to a contract with the Knicks or another NBA team.
Buie joins fellow training camp signees Landry Shamet, Chuma Okeke, and T.J. Warren in the blue and orange this preseason.
He spent the summer with the Phoenix Suns and participated in the Summer League, where he averaged 9.0 points in about 21 minutes per game over five games in Las Vegas. Buie is known for his strong perimeter scoring ability and elite three-point shooting.
