The four-star prospect from the class of 2025 has announced that he will reveal his commitment soon. A native of Las Vegas, told Joe Tipton from On3 that he will be choosing between BYU, Michigan, Stanford, and UNLV.
The early signing period for the class of 2025 prospects starts on November 8 and runs through November 15. He’s announcement will come just two days after his official visit to BYU on the weekend of November 2.
The talented player plays at Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas and is ranked as the No. 3 center and No. 29 overall prospect in the country for the class of 2025, according to the 247Sports Composite.
With a composite rating of 0.9874, if BYU secures a commitment from Staton, he would become the highest-rated recruit in the internet era for the program. His rating surpasses that of current BYU freshman Kanon Catchings, who is viewed as a potential first-round NBA draft pick.
BYU freshman guard Egor Demin received a five-star rating from 247Sports over the summer, although he lacked a Composite score since some recruiting services did not rate him.
Staton was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Nevada for the 2023-24 season and is regarded as one of the top rim protectors in the country for the class of 2025.
He didn’t start playing basketball until the ninth grade, but since then, he has quickly risen to become one of the nation’s top recruits for his class.
