24-year-old talented player was cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers from their practice squad as part of an organizational change. Ben Skowronek, a wide receiver, was placed on injured reserve as soon as Pittsburgh promoted him to the active roster. Jaray Jenkins, a wide receiver for LSU, was re-signed and added to the practice squad.
In an attempt to replicate the large-bodied wide outs the Broncos had on their roster, he was signed last week. The Pittsburgh Steelers have three other wide receivers practicing: Jenkins, Quez Watkins, and Brandon Johnson. The Los Angeles Chargers do not have the same wide receivers.
Davis, a South Carolina State product and undrafted free agent in the 2023 NFL Draft, played the majority of his rookie campaign with the New Orleans Saints. The Philadelphia Eagles signed him this spring, but he was cut loose right away. He was snatched back up by the Saints, but he was not included in the practice squad or final roster. The Steelers then made their move.
In his last year of college, Davis recorded 11 touchdowns and 934 receiving yards. Coming out of college, the 6-foot-5 wide receiver had a 40-yard sprint time of 4.51.
