HUGE BLOW: Houston Rockets Confirm the Departure of Another Super Talent

Veteran center Boban Marjanovic has reportedly agreed to join the Turkish club Fenerbahce, according to Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.com. The deal, initially hinted at by agent Misko Raznatovic through a cryptic tweet, has also been confirmed by Bugra Uzar of Eurohoops.

Boban Marjanovic gets intriguing offer amid NBA free agency

Urbonas reports that Marjanovic and Fenerbahce are finalizing a one-year contract with an opt-out clause available for both parties until January.

The 36-year-old Marjanovic has been in the NBA since 2015, playing for the Spurs, Pistons, Clippers, Sixers, Mavericks, and Rockets over his nine-season career. Standing at 7’4”, his size and skill have made him a matchup specialist, though he has averaged no more than 11.7 minutes per game and has never appeared in more than 58 games in a single season.

Marjanovic’s career NBA averages stand at 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in 8.7 minutes per game across 331 games. Last season, he played only 14 games for Houston, totaling 71 minutes.

Throughout the offseason, Marjanovic sought a new NBA opportunity but received more interest from overseas. He is familiar with European competition, having played in Serbia, Russia, and Lithuania from 2006-15 before joining the NBA.

He will join a Fenerbahce team looking to strengthen its frontcourt following the departure of Luka Samanic. The Istanbul-based club, which competes in the EuroLeague, has also recently added longtime NBA center Khem Birch.
