The Alabama Crimson Tide kicks off their season this Saturday against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers at Bryant-Denny Stadium. It’s an exciting time for the program as new head coach Kalen DeBoer begins his role with the Crimson Tide. DeBoer is anticipated to introduce a modern offensive strategy to Tuscaloosa, leveraging his experience from leading one of the top passing offenses in college football. However, the offense faced a setback even before the game started.
Starting left tackle Kadyn Proctor participated in warmups but left the field with the training staff before they were finished. Elijah Pritchett replaced Proctor at left tackle for Alabama’s opening offensive drive. Proctor was later seen on the sidelines in casual clothes and a sling on his left arm, with ESPN reporting a left shoulder injury.
“Yeah, unfortunately, he did, just caught me by surprise, obviously,” DeBoer commented when asked about Proctor’s injury during warmups. “He just couldn’t go tonight, and we’ll keep assessing it tomorrow to determine the severity. We’ll know more as the week progresses.”
Proctor was the only Alabama player to sustain an injury on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will face South Florida at home on Saturday, Sept. 7 for Week 2.
