Four-star talented player who is the No. 64 overall recruit from Fort Lauderdale’s Sagemont Prep School, has made his college decision. On Friday afternoon, Able announced live on 247Sports that he will remain close to home and join Jim Larranaga and the Miami Hurricanes.
Able, who emerged as a standout during the spring and summer evaluation period playing for Austin Rivers Southeast Elite, chose the Hurricanes after an official visit. He selected Miami over other finalists, including Boston College, Northwestern, Michigan, Wake Forest, Baylor, Xavier, and Virginia Tech.
“It really was just the environment that I felt down there,” Able said of why he picked Miami. “It was very family-oriented, I also say just the quality of people, the players were very welcoming, it was a great experience and just an overall great group of guys.
“As for the coaching staff, Coach Larranaga and Coach [Bill] Courtney, they were just amazing me and they showed the vision they had for me and showed what they wanted to see from me if I chose Miami.”
Able had taken official visits to Northwestern and Wake Forest, with more planned for the fall. However, after his visit to Miami, he felt that he had found his new home and made the decision to commit to the Hurricanes.
“I was really impressed by the facilities, but even more by the people,” Able said about his visit to Miami. “They’ve had so many pros come through the practice facilities. Seeing so many people who’ve made it to the NBA around me made it even more exciting and motivating.”
Able was one of the top risers this spring and summer, climbing from outside the top 150 to the top 75 in national rankings.
There’s a strong belief that Able’s development isn’t finished yet. His size, length, athleticism, shot-making ability, and improving overall game make him a standout high school player, with even greater potential ahead.
“I see myself as a scorer, a great teammate, and most importantly, a winner,” Able stated. “I’m passionate about winning and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. Whether I score 30 points or just two, my focus is on winning. I hate losing.”
Able’s commitment marks the first addition to Miami’s 2025 recruiting class.
