‘I Want To Leave For Him To Play’ Missouri Tigers 19-Year-Old Starter Confirms Decision and Enters Transfer Portal

Missouri has taken a significant hit in the transfer portal, as starting guard has reportedly decided to enter his name, according to Joe Tipton of On3.

He enjoyed a breakout 2025–26 season, earning a spot in the starting lineup for the final 14 games. He began the year as a rotational player but steadily improved, eventually overtaking junior Anthony Robinson II for the starting role. During his time as a starter, he averaged 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.

One of his standout performances came against Tennessee, where he scored 28 points against one of the SEC’s top defenses. His ability to attack the paint, combined with his 6-foot-4, 205-pound frame, athleticism, and strength, often created difficult matchups for defenders.

Mizzou Guard T.O. Barrett to Enter Transfer Portal

Barrett, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound guard, stepped into the Tigers’ starting point guard role on Jan. 24, replacing Robinson. The Oklahoma City native showed clear development during his sophomore season and delivered some promising performances in his expanded role, highlighted by a career-best 28 points in a win over Tennessee.

However, his fast-paced and aggressive style at the point also brought inconsistency. He struggled with turnovers, had difficulty scoring away from the basket, and disappeared in several of Missouri’s final games of the season.

Over two years with Missouri, Barrett appeared in 52 games. As a sophomore, he averaged 8.6 points, 2.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.1 turnovers per game.

His departure now reshapes Missouri’s approach to the transfer portal.

His departure makes guard a major need for the Tigers this offseason, as he’s the third Tiger guard to enter the portal, joining Robinson and Sebastian Mack. Missouri has incoming five-star point guard Jason Crowe Jr. coming in, but will now have a major hole to fill alongside him.

Behind Crowe, Missouri’s remaining guard depth includes rising junior Annor Boateng and redshirt freshman Aaron Rowe, a Columbia native. Boateng suffered a season-ending leg injury during the season, but the former four-star prospect has showed several flashes of his potential through his first two seasons.

In addition to the three portal departures, Missouri will also be losing starter Jayden Stone, who has now exhausted his eligibility. With Barrett out the door, the Tigers are set to just have one starter, forward Trent Pierce, from the 2025-26 season return. Pierce has confirmed his plans to return to the Tigers for the 2026-27 season.

Barrett became one of Missouri’s most promising players in his second season. He entered the program as a three-star prospect. He’s now the third member of Missouri’s five-man 2024 freshman class to depart the program, leaving center Trent Burns and Boateng as the only remaining members of the class. Burns has confirmed his plans to return for a third season.

The transfer portal will officially open Tuesday. To keep up with all of the offseason movement for the Tigers, keep up with our offseason tracker.
