MAJOR BREAKING: ‘Huge blow’ Mizzou Abruptly Lose Talented Guard To Transfer Portal

Missouri Tigers talented guard plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens on April 7, according to Joe Tipton. Mack played in 18 games this season, making nine starts.

By the end of the year, he had fallen out of head coach Dennis Gates’ rotation, with his final appearance coming on January 27 in a 90–64 road loss to Alabama Crimson Tide. He averaged seven points per game, shooting 40.7% from the field, 27.3% from three-point range, and 67.7% from the free-throw line.

The Chicago native began the season as a regular contributor, putting up nine points per game across his first 10 outings. However, his struggles from beyond the arc ultimately led to him being dropped from the rotation.

His top performance came in one of Missouri’s toughest losses—a 91–48 defeat to Illinois Fighting Illini—where he scored 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting.

Mizzou Guard Sebastian Mack to Enter Transfer Portal

Before transferring to Missouri, Mack spent two seasons with UCLA Bruins. As a freshman, he averaged 12.1 points on 38.7% shooting while playing 26.8 minutes per game, though the team missed the NCAA Tournament. In his sophomore year, his role decreased, as he posted 9.6 points per game on 42.6% shooting in 20.9 minutes, starting just one game. That season, UCLA advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

Coming out of the 2023 recruiting class, Mack was a four-star prospect ranked No. 55 nationally in composite rankings and the seventh-best shooting guard. He received offers from programs including Oklahoma, Florida State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and New Mexico.

The departure of Mack marks the second for Missouri this offseason, joining guard Anthony Robinson II. Mack’s departure wasn’t all that surprising, given his lack of playing time over the last month of the season, but it still creates a hole on the roster. The Tigers did add Jason Crowe Jr. and could potentially return T.O. Barrett and Aaron Rowe at the guard position. Gates is also in the process of trying to add four-star guard Quentin Coleman from St. Louis.

The college basketball transfer portal window officially opens on April 7, just one day after the national championship. That window will close on April 21.
