BREAKING: ‘This Is Sad’ Los Angeles Angels Receive Unexpected Heart-Breaking News Regarding Reliever

The Los Angeles Angels’ bullpen plans may face further uncertainty after reliever  experienced a setback in his recovery, the team confirmed Friday.

Stephenson, who has been working his way back from injury, recently reported renewed discomfort during his rehabilitation program. The right-hander had been progressing toward a return to game action, but the latest development has forced the Angels’ medical staff to slow down his timeline.

Angels Finally Announce Robert Stephenson Injury Update

Manager Ron Washington said the club will take a cautious approach moving forward.

“We’re not going to rush him,” Washington said before Friday’s game. “The important thing is making sure he’s healthy when he comes back. Right now we’re just evaluating where he’s at and what the next step should be.”

Stephenson was expected to play an important role in the Angels’ bullpen this season, particularly in late-inning situations. Known for his high-velocity fastball and swing-and-miss slider, he had been projected as a key setup option.

Team trainers will continue to monitor his condition over the coming days, and additional tests could determine whether further rest or adjustments to his rehab program are required. The club did not provide a specific timetable for his return.

Without Stephenson available, the Angels may lean more heavily on other relievers to cover high-leverage innings as the season progresses.

For now, the organization remains focused on getting the veteran right-hander fully healthy before putting him back on the mound.
