The Indianapolis Colts have added another vital player to their practice squad and released linebacker Austin Ajiake from the same squad.
The 26 -year-old, who stands 6 feet tall and weighs 195 pounds, participated in the Colts’ 2024 offseason program and training camp. He was waived-injured on August 14, placed on Injured Reserve the following day, and then released from Injured Reserve with an injury settlement on August 20. Over the past two seasons (2022-23), he has been part of both the active roster and practice squad, appearing in three games in 2023 and one in 2022 as a rookie. Fernea joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent from UCLA on May 13, 2022. His name is pronounced FIR-knee-uh.
Ajiake, measuring 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 223 pounds, has been on the practice squad throughout the current season. He originally joined the Colts’ practice squad on December 28, 2023. Last season, as a rookie, Ajiake was part of the practice squads for the Colts, Green Bay Packers, and Las Vegas Raiders. He also took part in training camp with the Denver Broncos after signing with them as an undrafted free agent from UNLV on August 3, 2023. His name is pronounced AH-gee-kay.
