The Los Angeles Dodgers may have played some gamesmanship with their lineup for Game 4 of the NLDS against the San Diego Padres, but they are being straightforward about one thing for Game 5.
The Dodgers announced via social media that 26-year-old will start the critical Game 5 at Dodger Stadium against the Padres.
While Dodgers manager Dave Roberts previously mentioned that Yamamoto would be included in the team’s pitching strategy for Game 5, he hadn’t confirmed the specific role. Now, the Dodgers have clarified that Yamamoto will indeed be the starter.
Yamamoto will face off against Padres starter Yu Darvish, creating a matchup between two Japanese pitchers. Another Japanese star, Shohei Ohtani, is also a significant factor in the discussion.
The winner of this game will move on to play the New York Mets in the NLCS.
