GOOD NEWS: Alabama Strong commit named to National Player of the Year After an outstanding start

After an outstanding start to his senior season, the Top quarterback who committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide, has been named to the watch list for the 2024 MaxPreps National Player of the Year.

 

 

Russell is one of 10 players featured on the list, which includes notable quarterbacks like Bryce Underwood and Julian Lewis, as well as Auburn running back commit Alvin Henderson.

Playing for the highly regarded Duncanville High School in Texas, Russell has led the Panthers to an impressive 4-0 record, including a notable 28-24 win against the nationally ranked St. Francis Academy in Maryland. So far this season, Russell has completed 75% of his passes for 1,437 yards with a remarkable 19 touchdowns and no interceptions, in addition to rushing for 125 yards and a touchdown.

As the highest-rated commitment in Alabama’s 2025 class, Russell has been with the Crimson Tide since June 2024. He is currently ranked as the No. 11 overall player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings and is regarded as the No. 3 quarterback in his class.

Russell’s senior season will continue next week with an away game against DeSoto High School in Texas.
