BREAKING: Surprisingly, Rangers All-Star Welcome offers from Braves and Cardinals

The 2024 season was impacted by injuries, but with key players returning, the Braves are expected to bounce back. This offseason should be eventful for them as they make moves to strengthen the team.

If ace Max Fried decides to leave, Atlanta may need to acquire a new pitcher. A great option could be Texas Rangers All-Star Nathan Eovaldi, who is likely to explore free agency instead of staying in Texas, according to USA Today Sports’ Bob Nightengale.

“Eovaldi has a $20 million player option that he can activate after surpassing 300 innings over the last two seasons, but given his performance, he’s expected to enter free agency,” Nightengale reported.

With a 3.96 ERA in 27 starts this season, Eovaldi may not be as young as Fried, but he would be a solid addition if he decides to sign elsewhere. He’s likely to be more affordable and has proven himself in postseason play.

As a right-handed power pitcher, Eovaldi is exactly the type of player a contender would pursue on a short-term deal this offseason. If Fried leaves, Atlanta should consider Eovaldi to enhance their rotation for 2025. With a healthy roster, the Braves could be strong contenders, and adding Eovaldi might be just what they need to elevate their game.
