Mark Pope, who has experience thriving as a big man at the collegiate level, knows the ropes well. Having played for the Kentucky Wildcats himself, Pope is highly regarded by Big Blue Nation and is currently focusing on one of the top centers in the Class of 2027.
According to Jacob Polacheck of Kentucky Sports Radio, Kentucky has extended an offer to 7-foot center Obinna Ekezie Jr. While official star ratings for the 2027 class are not yet available, Ekezie Jr. is already being recognized as a top-10 center in his class.
Ekezie Jr., hailing from Napa, California, plays for Prolific Prep and has attracted offers from several notable programs, including California, Houston, and Stanford.
ESPN’s top-25 list has Ekezie Jr. ranked at No. 19, making him the fourth-highest center in his class. ESPN has him rated as a 4-star recruit, although 247 Sports has yet to assign him a star rating.
Kentucky, with its storied history of developing standout centers like DeMarcus Cousins and Anthony Davis, would surely welcome the opportunity to add another top talent to its roster.
