Javion Hilson, a four-star edge rusher in the 2025 class, shared with On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Tuesday that he plans to visit seven schools in the coming months. His list includes Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, Syracuse, Texas, Texas A&M, and Florida.
Hilson, who is the second-ranked edge for 2025 according to On3, recently decommitted from Florida State. He had initially committed to the Seminoles in January after withdrawing his commitment from Alabama following Nick Saban’s retirement.
The Cocoa High School (Cocoa, FL) standout has just started his senior season and aims to continue his dominant performance. Last season, he helped Cocoa secure their second consecutive Florida 2S title, tallying 97 tackles (27 for loss) and 14 sacks, as noted in his scouting report from 247’s Andrew Ivens.
At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Hilson is known for his exceptional athleticism and long wingspan, which allows him to overpower offensive linemen effectively. His addition would be a major boost to Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class, which is currently ranked second nationally and first in the SEC by 247 Recruiting Football Team Rankings.
Hilson would become the second edge commitment for the 2025 class, following Justin Hill, the fourth-ranked edge who committed to Alabama in July.
Although Hilson last visited Alabama on March 8, 2024, he has confirmed plans to return to Tuscaloosa in the near future. Despite a period of uncertainty regarding his interest in Alabama, the Crimson Tide is making efforts to secure his commitment during his upcoming visit.
Currently, Texas is leading the recruitment for Hilson, with an 85.3% chance of landing him according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Meter.
The exact date of Hilson’s visit to Tuscaloosa is yet to be announced, but Alabama is keen to impress him before his commitment decision, which is expected in December. The Crimson Tide has a narrow window to influence the Cocoa, Florida native’s choice.
