Sad News: Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer gives injury on Prospect

Alabama football wide receiver exited the Crimson Tide’s 42-16 victory over South Florida early in the fourth quarter after appearing to suffer a significant injury to his right arm while hitting the ground. He did not return to the game.

Post-game, Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer had no definitive update on the specifics of Adams’ injury.

“He just had an arm injury,” DeBoer commented. “We’ll need to assess the extent of it. I initially thought it was a lower leg issue until he got up. We’ll evaluate him further throughout the week.”

Adams, who had taken over as the team’s punt returner starting with the season opener against Western Kentucky, was also gaining experience at wide receiver. The redshirt freshman ended Saturday’s game with one reception for five yards. The Crimson Tide struggled for much of the game against USF but managed to pull away in the final moments.

Alabama will face Wisconsin next week at Camp Randall. If Adams is unable to play, a key concern will be finding a replacement for him as the punt returner.

Jaylen Mbakwe, a freshman defensive back, caught one punt on Saturday and returned it 28 yards, contributing significantly in a critical late-game moment.

Alabama’s matchup with Wisconsin is scheduled for next Saturday in Madison, kicking off at 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast on FOX.
