Iowa secured its top wide receiver prospect for the 2025 class as talented four-star receiver from announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes.
He chose Iowa over offers from Minnesota and Purdue. He is highly rated as a four-star recruit on the 247Sports Composite.
In addition to his football prowess, He is also a standout basketball player. He appears to be an ideal fit for Iowa as an outside receiver. Iowa wide receivers coach Jon Budmayr played a key role in the recruitment, with offensive coordinator Tim Lester also involved in the process.
“When I first received the offer, it was during Jon Budmayr’s initial days as the wide receivers coach,” Smith said. “He has been my primary contact since day one. We’ve stayed closely connected and in regular communication since the offer came through.”
Smith added, “It’s been a great experience building that relationship. I’m looking forward to the official visit, and Tim Lester’s enthusiasm is impressive. I believe he has the potential to be an excellent coach.”
Despite acknowledging Iowa’s recent struggles with its offensive play, Smith remains optimistic about the new offensive staff in place.
“The exciting thing is they have a completely new staff, so I’m not letting past performances affect my decision. I’m focusing on what the future holds and what they can achieve,” he said. “If I commit there, I could have opportunities to play in front of NFL scouts and pursue a professional career. I’m confident I’ll receive the player development I’m seeking.”
