Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver has secured a new opportunity in the NFL. On August 19, the Cleveland Browns released Matt, but the New England Patriots quickly claimed him off waivers.
Matt Landers played for Georgia from 2017 to 2020, where he logged 10 receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown in 12 games during the 2019 season. His playing time significantly decreased in 2020, leading him to transfer to Toledo the following year.
During his one season at Toledo, Landers tallied 20 catches for 514 yards and five touchdowns. He then spent his final year of eligibility at Arkansas, where he led the team in receiving with 47 catches for 901 yards and eight touchdowns.
The 6-foot-4, 200-pound receiver spent time on the practice squads of both the Seattle Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers in 2023. At the 2023 NFL Combine, he impressed with a 4.37-second 40-yard dash. Landers also had a brief stint in the UFL with the San Antonio Brahmas in 2024.
Now, he aims to make an impact with the New England Patriots, who are set to play their preseason finale against the Washington Commanders on August 25.
