The Houston Astros have faced a rigorous schedule this season and are relying on the seasoned 41-year-old pitcher to maintain their momentum. Veteran pitcher Justin Verlander, who has been sidelined since June 9 due to neck stiffness, is set to return to the mound for the Astros.
He completed two minor league starts with the Double-A Corpus Christi team during his recovery and is scheduled to pitch in the final game of a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.
Astros manager Joe Espada emphasized the importance of Verlander’s return, highlighting his role in the team’s success. “It’s significant to have JV back on the mound. He’s one of the best, and having him return is a major boost for us, especially as we head into the final stretch of the season,” Espada said.
This season, Verlander has a record of 3-2 with a 3.95 ERA in 10 starts. The Astros are looking to regain their top form after a challenging start and have now taken the lead in the American League West Division, holding a four-game advantage over the Seattle Mariners.
