Proposed ‘Realistic’ Trade Sends Suns talented super stars

Since acquiring Bradley Beal, the Phoenix Suns have not accomplished as much as they would have hoped. Despite his talent, others contend that they are better served by role players who cover for him, such as Harrison Barnes.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report suggested a deal between the Suns and San Antonio Spurs that would send Barnes and other players, calling it “realistic.” In an August 16 report, he made the trade suggestion.

Does Julian Champagnie deserve another shot with the Spurs?

Suns receive: Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, and Barnes

Buckley outlined the reasons the Suns could have to accept such a move.

“Beal’s contract may be the worst of the Association because it has an unjustifiable no-trade clause. Additionally, the Suns have few opportunities to make up for a subtraction because they are both short on assets and over the second apron.

Then he went on to explain why they should be with Barnes and the others.

The Suns, on the other hand, might seize the opportunity to sign Beal, although San Antonio would only be giving them more than scraps. Johnson is a fiery scorer, Barnes provides reliable three-and-d support, and Champagnie is developing into a three-and-D base.

“The Suns could flip one or two for depth in other spots, or all three could fit Phoenix’s wing rotation.”

Barnes has a three-year, $54 million contract that will begin in the second year.

Harrison Barnes Brings Championship Experience

Barnes has established a respectable NBA career. He hasn’t made an All-Star squad and most likely won’t. He did, however, demonstrate his durability by averaging 19.2 points per game while he was a member of the Dallas Mavericks.

But prior to that, in 2015, Barnes played a key role in the Golden State Warriors’ first-ever championship victory alongside Stephen Curry. In 2016, he contributed to their return to the NBA Finals.

But he’s only made it back to the postseason once since departing the Warriors the next offseason. Still, he has visited there more than once. Even though it has been a while since he has played for the Warriors, Barnes has been a part of a winning recipe even if he may not have been their best player—far from it.
