latest: Yankees star gets worst punishment

The New York Yankees were busy at the trade deadline, making three separate transactions to bolster their chances for a strong postseason push.

The most notable additions were Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Mark Leiter Jr., but they also secured another bullpen arm in a smaller trade with the San Diego Padres, acquiring Enyel De Los Santos.

The move was somewhat puzzling, as De Los Santos had a 4.46 ERA in 44 appearances for the Padres. However, if there’s one thing Brian Cashman excels at, it’s spotting undervalued relievers who can flourish under pitching coach Matt Blake’s guidance.

Unfortunately, De Los Santos did not become one of New York’s success stories. He was designated for assignment just a couple of weeks after being acquired. Adding to his misfortune, he was claimed off waivers by the 30-93 Chicago White Sox. Yikes.

Enyel De Los Santos’ season reaches new low following White Sox claim

Of all the teams that could have claimed De Los Santos, of course, it had to be the White Sox. This seems fitting, as his final appearance before being designated for assignment was against them. In that game, he allowed seven runs in just 1.2 innings, leading to an embarrassing loss when the White Sox were 28-91.

On one hand, this is positive news for De Los Santos, as he should get plenty of opportunities to pitch for a White Sox team that frequently relies on its bullpen. On the other hand, the White Sox are 30-93. Is it any fun playing on a 30-93 team?
