‘Good news’ Gators Billy Napier land commitment for another talented star player

This cycle, the Florida Gators have been successful in acquiring legacy targets. Ben Hanks Jr., a cornerback ranked in the top 100 by Booker T. Washington of Miami (Fla.), is the most recent addition to the group. His father, Ben Hanks Sr., was a former linebacker at the University of Florida who was coached by Steve Spurrier in the 1990s. The Gators never really seemed to be a huge role in his recruitment, even though they made an offer much earlier in the process. After he made two trips to Gainesville in June, that sentiment began to shift.

Florida has made it clear how interested they are in the talent that only he has, but they have also made noises about his potential to carry on the family name. By the middle of the summer, the Gators started to trend upward as a result of the staff’s messages, and they continued to do so until he pulled the trigger.

“They’ll always be a good school and fit for me,” Hanks Jr. previously remarked of the Gators. “My dad went [to Florida], so thats a legacy here,” “I just came here to feel amazing and whole. They’re only rebuilding to return to the level at which they left behind a wonderful legacy in the past. Florida’s program is excellent, and I adore the coaches here. The staff is kind to me, and the atmosphere is positive.”
