Newcastle United transfer target posts cryptic three-word message after ‘terms agreed’ claim

Newcastle made an effort to acquire the young goalkeeper in mid-June following Burnley’s rejection of an initial bid of approximately £16 million. The Magpies were anticipated to come back with a second offer, having reportedly agreed on personal terms with Trafford; however, the situation shifted.

Needing to generate funds before June 30 to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR), United sold Yankuba Minteh to Brighton & Hove Albion and academy graduate Elliot Anderson to Nottingham Forest, raising a combined £68 million.

As part of Anderson’s £35 million transfer to the City Ground, Eddie Howe’s team agreed to sign Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos for an undisclosed fee. Additionally, they announced the signing of John Ruddy on a one-year contract following his departure from Birmingham City.

This leaves Newcastle with five senior goalkeepers heading into the new Premier League season, including Nick Pope, Mark Gillespie, and Martin Dubravka, who is the most likely to depart if a move does occur.

This has nearly dashed Trafford’s hopes of moving to Tyneside this summer, and he is set to remain at Burnley after starting in their 4-1 win at Luton on Monday. It was his first league appearance since March after losing his No.1 spot.

After the game, Trafford posted a cryptic message on Instagram, stating, “only I know.”

While it is unclear what the former Manchester City youngster meant by his three-word message, it can easily be connected to the summer of speculation he has faced.
