Breaking News: Ipswich Town Most Likely Yo Land Man city Midfielder

Ipswich Town, newly promoted to the Premier League, could become a potential new home for Kalvin Phillips as he looks to rejuvenate his career.

Phillips has had limited playing time since his £45million transfer from Leeds to Manchester City in 2022, making only six starts across all competitions. His loan stint at West Ham in January did not help him regain his form, leading to speculation that he may be on the move again this summer.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Ipswich, Everton, and Fulham are all interested in signing Phillips. Although Manchester City initially preferred a permanent transfer, they are now open to another loan arrangement.

Phillips has been a regular feature for City in pre-season, and manager Pep Guardiola has stated that his “confidence is back.” Guardiola remarked that while Phillips excels when he can view the game ahead of him, he struggles in tighter spaces. Despite this, Guardiola acknowledged Phillips’ contributions during recent tour matches and indicated he still values the midfielder.

However, Guardiola has also been critical of Phillips’ performance in pre-season games against Celtic and AC Milan, expressing uncertainty about his future after moving him to a defensive role against Barcelona. Guardiola noted Phillips’ strengths when he has a clear view of the pitch but also highlighted his difficulties in more confined areas.
